Bagnaia, just outside Viterbo, is about 30 minutes drive away. The town itself is worth a visit but it is most famous for the Villa Lante which is situated there. Built in the sixteenth century its large formal gardens are noted for the use of artfully laid out cascades of water channelled from the mountains nearby. The villa is open to visitors from 9.00 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. but with earlier closing in the winter months.
