Even if you are visiting in the cooler months a swim is still on the cards: At the famous Terme dei Papi Spa in Viterbo there is a large naturally heated outdoor pool, fed by the hot springs that are a feature of the area. This pool is accessed via a heated ‘tunnel’ from the changing rooms and so swimming is pleasurable (and sometimes slightly surreal!) at all times of the year.
