20-30 minutes drive from Civitella the Monsters’ Park (Parco dei Mostri) is well worth a visit. Situated on the outskirts of the lovely hill town of Bomarzo it was created in the 16th century by Vicino Orsini. Huge, macabre sculptures were hewn from the rockface to spectacular effect. The neglect of time was reversed in the 20th century with the help of Savador Dali, who was greatly impressed by the park, and now it is open to visitors every day from dawn to sunset.
