Alviano and the Oasis
On the plain below the old town the River Tiber has been damned to create a WWF wild bird sanctuary. The old town of Alviano is worth a visit. High up on a hill on the opposite side of the Tiber valley from Civitella and 20 minutes drive away this small town has spectacular views and is dominated by the splendid castle. Cross the drawbridge and enter the harmonious courtyard and visit the tiny chapel leading off to one side.
